Join the Office for Women’s Careers for the annual Spring Luncheon, celebrating the achievements of women faculty and trainees at BWH. This year’s keynote speakers are Rosalind Barnett, PhD, senior scientist, Brandeis University; and Caryl Rivers, professor of Journalism at Boston University and author of “Same Difference: How Gender Myths Are Hurting Our Relationships, Our Children and Our Jobs.” May 23, noon–1:30 p.m., in Carrie Hall. BWH Workforce Development is now accepting applications for its Microsoft Office program. This free eight-month program starts in September and meets in the evenings once a week for three hours. During the program, students learn Microsoft Word to the advanced level and Excel to an intermediate level. Applicants must be in–or interested in moving into–an administrative/secretarial role. The BWH HIV Vaccine Trials Unit and BWH celebrate HIV Vaccine Awareness Day by hosting “Let’s Talk HIV Prevention,” a scientific symposium focusing on research related to HIV prevention and the development of a safe and effective HIV vaccine, May 18, 3:30–5 p.m., in Bornstein Amphitheater. A community roundtable focusing on what the development of an HIV vaccine would mean for the people of Boston is May 20, 2:30–5 p.m., in Carrie Hall.
