On Friday, May 10 more than 100 members of the Brigham andWomen’s Physicians Organization (BWPO) gathered for the BWPO’s First Annual Strategic Planning Retreat. The physicians who attended the retreat had been meeting for the past six months in one of four strategic work groups: Inpatient/Outpatient Services, Physician Worklife, Network Development and the Billing Cycle. At the retreat these groups presented their findings to their colleagues in order to obtain feedback and to begin to develop a strategic blueprint for the BWPO. Some of the areas of greatest concern included: information systems, work life improvements, and the need for enhanced clinical support. The BWPO leadership will be assembling recommendations and developing an action plan over the next several months to respond to the priorities outlined at the retreat.
