As happens each summer, BWH opened its doors to a group of residents that reign from all over the world and promise to bring to our community a richness of education, culture and diversity over the next several years.
“It is tremendous,” said Robert Barbieri, MD, chairman, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. “Again and again we are blessed with a remarkable group of candidates. And given the importance of diversity in health care, we are even further bolstered by the breadth of cultural diversity this new contingent brings to BWH.”
This year, BWH welcomes into its ranks new residents from Tokyo, Delhi and Sydney, as well as Berlin, Cape Town and Damascus, Syria. Just as impressive are the more local recruits, who hail from Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Boston, to name only a few locations.
“We’re fortunate here at Brigham and Women’s to attract the very best and brightest,” said Michael Zinner, MD, chief, Department of Surgery. “But we have the added value of gaining new residents who offer tremendous care, have exceptional skills in compassion and add value to each and every one of us. This year’s group is sure to fulfill this enormous charge their predecessors have left for them.”
