Approximately 130 clinical and administrative leaders from Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute came together in June for the first-of-its-kind Patient Safety Summit. Designed and organized by the Center for Clinical Excellence and the Patient Safety-Quality Integration Team, the meeting provided a unique opportunity for leaders to share information, concerns and approaches to pivotal patient safety issues in an open forum.
“This type of exercise is critical to our broader understanding of the factors that most directly affect patient safety,” said Andy Whittemore, MD, chief medical officer. “I am strongly encouraged by the level of participation and the discourse that occurred throughout the event. Patient safety continues to be a top priority for this hospital.”
