Dear Colleagues:
As medicine undergoes rapid change, it is vital that the major medical institutions that support such evolution reconstitute themselves in a manner that best positions them to adapt to such change. If appropriately administered, the result can be dynamic and exciting and lays the foundation for the future. We believe that we are at a crossroads today that dictates a renewed vision for the future of the BWPO, BWH, Faulkner Hospital and partners that have shared in our success.
The new BW/F Vision Statement will provide us with the foundation necessary to build a stronger, more adaptable institution capable of carrying the mission of academic medicine forward. Constructed out of the core elements of patient care, research, education and community, we plan to employ this vision to erect a powerful organization that can create opportunities from the respective strengths of each function.
As the Chairman of the BWPO, I welcome this as an opportunity for us to differentiate ourselves from other academic medical centers. Bringing to bear the strengths of a vigorous physician organization, a hospital with a rich legacy of innovation; a community teaching hospital with more than a century of achievement; and acclaimed partners such as the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, we can reinforce our position as one of the world’s leading medical centers.
Take the time to learn more about this new foundation for innovation. The BW/F Vision Statement will serve us all well into the future.
Sincerely,

Lawrence H. Cohn, MD
Chairman, BWPO
