In honor of National Nursing Recognition Week, which kicked-off on Monday, May 6, BWH unveiled its new Lobby Display, which features the 2002 nominees and winner of this year’s Mary S. Fay Essence of Nursing Award. The display, along with the award, celebrates the outstanding leadership and professionalism among all of BWH’s nurses. Symbols of excellence in patient care, education and research, five nurses were nominated for the Essence Award, including Martha Griffin, RN, CS, PhD; Kathleen Ryan Avery, MS, RN, CCRN; Ilene Fleischer, MS, RN, CWOCN; Julie B. Shea, MS, RNCS; and Marie Field, MS, RN. Fleischer, a clinical nurse specialist in Enterostomal Therapy, was announced as this year’s winner at the May 1 Nursing Recognition Dinner.
