The Security and Parking Department was proud to announce on Monday, March 12 that Lee and Dorothy Wenner of Saugus, MA, were the one millionth customers of Valet Park, the contracted valet parking company at BWH. After arriving at 15 Francis Street, the Wenners were presented with a bouquet of flowers and a $200 gift certificate to a restaurant of their choice. Valet parking began at BWH in December 1993. Now offered at all three entrances and 221 Longwood (and 24 hours a day at 75 Francis Street), Valet Park handles approximately 15,000-17,000 cars per month, with between 500-600 cars arriving at 75 Francis Street on an average weekday. “As far as we can determine, we now run the largest valet operation on the east coast, with approximately 80 valet employees,” said Robert Chicarello, assistant director, Security and Parking. “We hope our services add convenience to the hospital experiences of our million customers, including the Wenners.” Adds Robert Donaghue, operations manager, Security and Parking, “The BWH valets have a difficult and important job, as they are the first and last contact patients have with BWH during their visits.”
