An end of the year celebration was held on June 19 to honor the 25 students involved in the Student Success Jobs Partnership (SSJP) at BWH. As employees of the hospital, sophomore and junior high school students are provided an opportunity to explore BWH’s many departments to learn more about various careers in health care.
Over the course of the two-year program, each student is assigned a mentor. Nellie Knight, the SSJP project coordinator in BWH's Office for Women, Family and Community Programs, is also available to meet with students on a regular basis. Each month, the group of participating students attends monthly learning workshops on topics such as dress for success, telephone etiquette, college preparation, managing personal finances and exploring medical careers.
