Staff Survey September 4 through September 28 Making BWH a Better Place All BWH employees are encouraged to participate in the staff survey and help make BWH a better place. All employees have the following expanded options to pick up, fill out and return the survey, which only takes about 20 minutes to complete. See “September is staff survey month” story in this week’s BWH Bulletin.
Schwartz Rounds September 6 12 –1 p.m. Anesthesia Conference Room Schwartz Rounds are held the first Tuesday of the month.
Quality Rounds September 11 12 –1 p.m. Anesthesia Conference Room James Conway, COO, DFCI, will present “The DFCI Quality Improvement Journey—Responding to a Tragic Sentinel Event and Improving Organizational Performance.”
Weight Watchers at Work September 14 7:30 a.m. Duncan Reid Conference Room Rosanna Musto will lead the weekly meeting on Friday mornings.Register on September 7. $130 for 12 weeks. For more information, call ext. 2-6443.
Benefit Time Cash-Out Forms Due September 14 Staff and employees eligible to cash out benefit time (minimum of 100 hours accrued in BT bank) must return forms to the Payroll Department by September 14. Cash-out forms will be distributed with the September 6 timesheets and paychecks. BT Cash-out hours do not count toward the BT requirement for the fiscal year. BT requirement hours must be taken by September 22. An employee's BT requirement is indicated on their check stub as BT REQ. An employee can cash out in increments of 20 hours but must maintain a balance of 80 hours in the BT bank. Cash-out forms should be signed by your supervisor and returned to the Payroll Office, Neville House, 3rd Floor by September 14. Checks will be distributed on September 21 or directly deposited into bank accounts for those with direct deposit.

A Taste of Culture - Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month September 26 12-1:30 p.m. Thorn BC To celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, BWH will be honoring employees of Hispanic Heritage with the "A Taste of Culture" program. The event will feature Sol Y Canto, a bilingual and multicultural band with a unique style of Afro-Latin and Flamenco influenced music.

Women’s Health Forum 2001 Saturday, October 13 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Registration required Mothers, daughters, sisters and friends are all invited to a special day of health and well-being for women. Listen to inspirational stories from keynote speakers Dr. Jerri Nielson and Dr. Mae Jemison. Dr. Jerri Nielson will share the story about her remarkable fight and survival against cancer while living in Antarctica. Dr. Mae Jemison will discuss her pioneering role as the first African American woman to travel to space.
In addition to the keynote speakers, BWH experts will lead educational sessions on topics such as exercise, arthritis and infertility.
The event will also offer health screenings, massages, door prizes and giveaways. $55 for one person & $30 for each additional person. Last year’s event was a sell out, so register early.
