During the month of September, millions of Americans honored their Hispanic heritage. And, here in the BWH community, there was much to celebrate. Both BWH and the Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center (SJPHC), hosted special Hispanic Heritage days, including awards, music, food and dancing.
Sol Y Canto, a unique Afro-Latin flamenco band, performed for a crowd of more than 40 BWH employees who enjoyed listening to the festive music while sampling a variety of ethnic foods. The SJPHC event featured a special keynote speaker, Nicolás Carballeira, executive director, Latino Health Institute. Hispanic Heritage awards were presented to several employees and the event was capped off with dance instruction.
