Ann Hurley, DNSc, RN, has recently been appointed executive director of the Center for Excellence in Nursing Practice. Hurley is new to BWH, but no stranger to the Boston area medical community. She is a native of Massachusetts, who attended Boston College as an undergraduate and went on to Boston University to receive her master’s degree in Nursing Administration and a doctorate in Nursing Science.
Hurley comes to BWH with 30 years of clinical practice and research experience. Prior to this position, she spent 13 years at the Bedford VA Hospital, serving first as a research project director and then as associate director for Education and Program Evaluation at the hospital’s Geriatric Research, Educational and Clinical Center. “I feel very fortunate to join a superb staff at one of the nation’s finest academical medical centers and am eager to build upon the existing foundation of nursing research,” said Hurley. “Through the work conducted at the Center of Excellence, we have the unique opportunity to translate pragmatic and practical research into a plan for improved patient care. My goal is to conduct and promote the conduct of nursing and interdisciplinary research that will result in immediate benefits for our patients and their families.”
