BWH is a proud member of the National Patient Safety Foundation’s Stand Up for Patient Safety program. Program participants are a select group of hospitals and health care systems that have distinguished themselves as national leaders in patient safety.
BWH will recognize and celebrate Patient Safety Awareness Week as a way to demonstrate the hospital’s commitment to the highest standards of patient safety. The week will be characterized by a number of special activities, including targeted educational outreach to patients, emphasizing that safety can be enhanced by a true partnership between patients, families and all members of the patient care team.
All BWH staff are encouraged to join BWH’s Patient Safety Team in observing this important week. Buttons, posters, tent cards, flyers and consumer information will be distributed throughout the hospital. Staff are welcome to visit a patient safety information booth to be set up outside the BWH Cafeteria on March 8 and 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and to stop by the Bretholtz Center, where a special patient safety-themed display will be set up throughout next week.
