The annual Scottsdale Institute Fall Conference was held last week at the Longwood Inn. Hosted by Partners HealthCare, the conference included a technology fair, featuring such BWH technology as the Balanced Scorecard performance management framework that integrates strategy and key performance metrics in a web-based platform; eMAR, which aides clinicians in documenting medicine administration through mobile devices, bar-coding and wireless technologies; PACS/Enterprise Imaging to reduce duplication and enhance clinical integration, the Indoor Positioning System, and Smart Pumps. On hand were several Information Systems, Finance and Marketing employees from hospitals throughout the country, as well as physicians who were interested in the latest technology. Sue Schade, chief information officer at BWH, said “The Scottsdale Institute brings together professionals from all over the country to collaborate and share ideas to tackle the many complex issues related to technology in health care.” She added, “The event also provided Partners and BWH an opportunity to highlight our cutting edge technology.” Pictured explaining the approach and benefits of the Indoor Positioning System to Beverly Brown, PhD, special projects officer for Partners, left, is Catherine McGoldrick, corporate manager, IS Management and Planning at BWH.
