BWHers are invited to two events celebrating the life and legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
The BWH community hosts a celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Jan. 13 in Carrie Hall from noon to 1 p.m. for the seventh annual participatory reading of King's famous speech “I Have A Dream,” and music selections by BWH talent. The BWH community is asked to come prepared to share their personal remembrances and recollections of King and/or the Civil Rights era. On Jan. 20, all BWHers are invited and encouraged to attend “A Celebration of the Legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,” in the Bornstein Ampitheater from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. A reception will follow in the Pod B Cafeteria. The celebration features Hubie Jones, educator, community activist, child advocate and civil leader, as well as the Roland Hayes School of Music Children's Chorus under the direction of Donnell Patterson. This event is sponsored by Partners HealthCare, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Health Equity Program and the Center for Surgery and Public Health.
