Trish Gibbons, DNSc, RN, joined BWH this month as the hospital’s new associate chief nursing officer and executive director of the Center for Nursing Excellence. Gibbons brings to BWH a distinguished track record in health care.
“Trish brings a wealth of nursing and health care experience to BWH as an inspirational leader and a dynamic teacher,” Mairead Hickey, PhD, RN, chief nursing officer and senior vice president of Patient Care Services, said. “During her many years in health care, she has distinguished herself as a visionary leader with a passion for superior patient care.”
Gibbons will play a key role in implementing and advancing the Department of Nursing’s vision of excellent care for patients and their families, the very best nursing staff and the safest environment. Also, she will help expand BWH’s collaboration and partnerships with schools of nursing, enhancing opportunities for nursing staff to serve as mentors, faculty, researchers and advisors.
“I am thrilled to be joining BWH and Mairead’s leadership team to advance nursing knowledge through evidenced based care, academic relationships and clinical innovation,” Gibbons said.
Gibbons earned her bachelor of science in Nursing from Boston College and went on to earn a master’s degree and a doctorate in nursing administration from Boston University.
She has held leadership posts at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Yale-New Haven Hospital, Visiting Nurse Service of Southern Maine and most recently Massachusetts General Hospital.
