Gus Cervini this month joined the Department of Medicine (DOM) as its administrative director of Research. In this new position, Cervini serves as the central administrative director for the DOM’s research affairs, and will be responsible for ensuring that the fiscal and research operations of the DOM’s scientific community are appropriately managed, monitored and reported. Cervini will report to David McCready, executive administrator of the DOM, and work closely with Barbara Bierer, MD, senior vice president of Research. “I am confident that Gus’s superb administrative skill set and his leadership experience in fast-paced biomedical research environments will serve the DOM well,” McCready said.
Cervini has an accomplished background in the field of biomedical science administration. Most recently, he was chief of staff at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, a relatively new organization created to bring the power of genomics to medicine. He has held management positions at the Whitehead Institute of MIT and the American Psychiatric Association.
“I am very much looking forward to working with the Department of Medicine’s world-class research and administrative team to ensure BWH stays at the forefront of biomedical scientific discovery,” Cervini said.
