Angela M. Crutchfield this spring joined BWH as director of Organizational Development & Learning in Human Resources. In this role, she is responsible for overall direction of diversity management and organizational development and training.
“The goal of Organizational Development & Learning is to design, develop and deliver quality training focused on the development of new skills and the amplification of current skills for staff and leaders,” Crutchfield said. “We’re putting in place a new training curriculum, in addition to the professional development series offered through Partners, to cover leadership, employee development and team-building.”
In the leadership series, for example, managers will complete a number of courses or workshops and then receive additional coaching through HR, Crutchfield said. “This provides follow-up and support to the managers as the transfer of new knowledge happens.”
The alignment of learning and development opportunities enables employees to work to their potential, further the goals of their departments and support the mission of BWH. In the area of diversity, Crutchfield oversees initiatives that will support BWH’s work environment of inclusiveness for all staff across the organization. “We want to ensure that we are staying true to our commitment as an organization to create an environment that values, supports and respects differences among our employees and the community we serve,” she said.
Crutchfield comes to BWH from Vanderbilt University, where she served as senior organizational and learning development consultant. Prior to that, Crutchfield held positions at Seminary Extension in Nashville, Jkwab Consulting and Charles R. Drew University, both in Los Angeles. She has a master’s degree in organizational and human relations management from Cumberland University and is working towards a doctorate in organizational leadership.
“Angela’s professionalism and expertise are wonderful additions to our Human Resources staff,” Lisa Ponton, vice president of HR, said. “Please join me in welcoming Angela to Boston and to BWH.”
