Joseph Gabriel Vernet, a three-year employee of the BWH Food Service Department, passed away Aug. 9. He was 52.
Mr. Vernet’s co-workers remember his dedication. “Joseph was very consistent. He was someone you could always depend on,” Donna Newcomb, manager of Food Services, said. “He will be greatly missed and remembered by all.”
Mr. Vernet was born in Lascahobas, Haiti. He was a schoolteacher in Haiti for 23 years before moving to Massachusetts with his family in 1999.
Mr. Vernet is survived by his wife, Estelle; three children, Ducarmel, Jeff and Sabrina; his mother, Emilie Saintiche; two sisters, Marie Dainelle and Monique; three brothers, Yvan, Samuel and Ulrich; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His wake is tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., Dorchester. A funeral service is Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Angela Church, 1548 Blue Hill Ave., Mattapan.
A memorial service will be held in the BWH Chapel at a later date.
