Everyday, Security officers and Valet runners handle numerous challenges—such as inclement weather and distressed patients and families—as they work to keep BWH patients, staff and visitors safe.
To thank the 220 members of the Security and Valet teams, the Office of Security and Parking held its second annual celebration last week at the Fenway Room in the Longwood Galleria.
“Our Valet and Security teams are contracted through outside vendors, but they are an integral part of the Brigham team,” said Robert Chicarello, director of the Office of Security and Parking. “They have a tough job, and we thank them for their hard work and dedication.”
Congratulations to the winners of four major awards presented at the dinner: Januel Rios was named Securitas Officer of the Year; Terrance Lassiter Securitas Supervisor of the Year; Shaka Buford VPNE Supervisor of the Year; and Joao Pontes VPNE Runner of the Year.
Several other team members were recognized as standout performers in 2006, including Leo Luna, Deborah Nicholas, Francisco Pina, Katherine Raftery, Ronald Myers, Peter Chapalatas and Takiya Curry.
“All of our people put themselves on the frontlines everyday doing work that is very difficult,” said Robert Donaghue, operations manager for Security and Parking. “They face challenging conditions as they work to keep patients, staff and visitors safe.”
