7 News and Partners HealthCare are teaming up to present the Health and Fitness Expo at Boston’s Hynes Convention Center June 23 and 24. BWHers are needed to volunteer at this free event for the community, a great opportunity to have fun and make a difference.
The expo will feature free medical tests and screenings; interactive sports clinics, fitness and health activities such as ballroom dancing, Double Dutch jump rope, a scuba tank, virtual golf and a snowboard simulator; healthy cooking demonstrations with Frances Rivera of 7 News and celebrity chefs; and celebrity guests from the sports and entertainment world including Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi, Shonda Schilling and Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart.
BWH physicians Anthony D’Amico, MD, Carolyn Kaelin, MD, MPH, FACS, and JoAnn Manson, MD, DrPH, among others, will participate in the expo. At various BWH stations, attendees can try their hand at operating the da Vinci surgical robot, complete their family medical history and interact with the STRATUS Center’s state-of-the-art mannequins.
BWH will be featured in 7 News HealthCasts, a half hour TV special and television advertising in the upcoming weeks. This is the first time the expo has been produced in Boston.
If you are interested in volunteering to help staff the BWH exhibit, contact Mary Kathryn McKenna at mmckenna2@partners.org or ext. 2-9557.
