Denise C. Moore, Esq., was named president of the Friends of Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Inc., at the Friends’ annual meeting in October. Moore, a patient of the hospital through the years, practices criminal and juvenile law in the Lexington area. She succeeds outgoing Friends President Kathleen A. Monbouquette, whose term is up.
Monbouquette’s service as president was filled with accomplishments, including increasing the funds raised through the Gift Shop and overseeing a host of major fund-raising events and the completion of the Bridge of Hope.
“Thanks to Kathleen for her dedicated service as president of the Friends for four years and as a member of the organization for many years before that,” said BWH President Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA. “We warmly welcome Denise to her new role as president of this vitally important organization, which has raised more than $7.5 million for the hospital in the past 26 years.”
Moore began her four-year term as president on Oct. 15.
“I am so grateful to have the honor of giving back to this wonderful institution,” she said. “The Friends are looking forward to some exciting and successful events this year to enable us to match last year’s donations of more than $300,000 to BWH. We encourage everyone in the BWH community to join the Friends to be a part of the fun!”
The Friends annual meeting included several other highlights.
The Friends announced the establishment of the Joan Sturgis Crocker Memorial Fund, in memory of Crocker’s dedication to the Friends and helping those less fortunate. A plaque will be placed in the Bretholtz Center. Contributions may be sent to the Friends for the Josephine Sturgis Crocker Memorial Fund for Patient Support and Social Services.
Harley Haynes, MD, vice chair of Dermatology, presented the Bridge of Hope coloring book, which will be on sale in the Gift Shop and given to children treated in oncology.
Guest speaker John Mottern of Gallery 55 in Natick shared a selection of photos that promote philanthropic awareness and giving.
