All employees who accrue Benefit Time (BT) must use a certain number of BT hours each calendar year—as holiday, sick time, vacation time or BT cashed out. Employees who do not use or cash out their BT requirement by Dec. 11 will have the difference between their BT requirement and the BT they have used transferred to their Extended Sick Leave (ESL) bank. Contact your manager, time keeper or HR consultant for more information.
The entire cafeteria, including the dining areas in Pods A and B and the area that includes the vending machines, will close to staff, patients and visitors for maintenance at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21. On Wednesday, Sept. 22, the vending machines and seating area will reopen at 5:30 a.m., and staff will resume serving food at 6:15 a.m.
Workforce Development is accepting applications for its Online College Preparation Program, which teaches participants how to take an online course, best practices in studying, basic skills in time management and goal setting. Participants who complete this course will have the opportunity to take an upcoming three-credit online Medical Terminology course for free. The BWH Student Success Jobs Program is recruiting medical departments, inpatient floors, outpatient clinics and research and clinical laboratories to host a motivated high school student who is passionate about pursuing health, science or medicine as a career. There is no cost to departments. Students work in a paid position October through August, 10 hours per week during the school year and 25 hours per week in the summer.
