A new lactation room opened this week on the fifth floor of Crosstown for employees who are breastfeeding.
“I’ll definitely take advantage of it,” said Pivel Morton, Human Resources representative, whose baby is due in June. “It helps to take that anxiety out of coming back to work, knowing that there is a dedicated space just two floors down from my office.”
The room is equipped with an electric pump, a comfortable chair and a code on the door to ensure privacy.
The Mother’s Corner, a program run by the Employee Assistance Program, has set up lactation rooms like this one throughout BWH, MGH, Faulkner, Partners and the MGH Institute for Health Professions as a way for new mothers to continue breastfeeding after returning to work.
If you are interested in using a lactation room, contact the Employee Assistance Program one week in advance at 617-726-6976 for an orientation. Learn more at www.eap.partners.org
