The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) mourns the loss of patient care assistant Sara Brown, who worked on the unit for nearly eight years. She died on Dec. 26.
Ms. Brown was born in La Ceiba, Honduras, and moved to the U.S. when she was 20. Before joining BWH, Ms. Brown worked in billing administration for an office in Newton. She lived with her family in Roxbury.
“My mother was extremely kind, and she really enjoyed her work,” said daughter Johanna Brown, a former unit coordinator on Tower 10AB. “She was always smiling and always happy. She liked to dance and sing, and would always listen to music while she was getting ready to go to work.” Added Deb Scott, a patient care assistant who worked with Ms. Brown in the MICU: “Sara was a very good friend inside and outside of work. She was soft-spoken and had the sweetest smile. She was wonderful company.”
Ms. Brown is survived by children Lila, Albert and Johanna Brown, nine grandchildren, and many other family members and friends. Services were held at Eliot Congregational Church in Roxbury on Jan. 5, during which Ms. Brown’s MICU colleagues wore purple ribbons, her favorite color.
