Donating Blood or Platelets
The tragic events at the Boston Marathon have led to an outpouring of support to the Blood Donor Center. If you’re considering donating blood or platelets, the center requests that you call for an appointment and consider scheduling it in the coming weeks to help replenish and maintain the supply of blood products. To schedule a donation, email blooddonor@partners.org with your preferred donation type (blood or platelets), days you wish to donate and a phone number.
Continuing Your Education, April 23
Learn more about advancing your education and career at this Workforce Development seminar, which is geared toward individuals who are considering going back to school or joining a program for the first time. Since there are multiple ways to think about advancing your education, this seminar will provide resources and information to help decide the right path for you. April 23, noon–1 p.m., in the Shapiro Breakout Room.
CWN Elevator Out of Service, April 28
The CWN Elevator, Car 29, serving the Helipad, will be shut down on April 28, 6 a.m.–4 p.m., for service work. This shutdown has been coordinated with BWH Security. Elevator Car 28 will be available during the day to provide service elevator access to CWN floors L-2 through 10.
Employee Service Awards, June 6
The BWH community is invited to attend the 33rd Annual Employee Service Awards ceremony, which honors employees who have worked at the hospital in increments of five years, June 6, at 4 p.m., in the Cabot Atrium. A reception will follow in Pod B Cafeteria. Learn more at BWHPikeNotes.org.
Clinical Innovation Day, June 18
The event will include discussions about health care IT, clinical innovation and process improvement at BWH, a keynote address about innovation in health care, a poster session and reception. Open to all BWH community members, the day will provide an opportunity for attendees to reflect on the topics presented and encourage collaboration. June 18, 12:30-6:30 p.m., in the Bornstein Amphitheater and Cabot Atrium.
MFA Samurai Exhibit Raffle
The Museum of Fine Arts has donated 30 tickets to its current exhibit “Samurai,” which illustrates the evolution of the distinctive appearance and equipment of the samurai warrior through the centuries. Tickets will be made available to employees and visitors through a raffle at the Shop on the Pike on April 24. Additional museum passes to the general collection will be raffled off as well. To enter the raffle, stop by the Shop on the Pike before April 24.
