Mark Davis, MD, MS, has been named medical director of Network Development at BWHC. Davis has been an attending physician in BWH’s Department of Emergency Medicine since 2000. He will begin the new role June 1.
Davis brings a breadth of experience in strategic program development and implementation in complex local, regional and international environments. He most recently led the successful new relationship between BWH Emergency Medicine and a Rhode Island partner institution. He is also the founding director for the Institute for International Emergency Medicine and Health (IEMH) at BWH.
After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine as a Penn Medical Scholar, Davis earned his master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. He received the National Research Council Fellowship Award from the National Academy of Sciences at NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) and was appointed visiting scientist at the Medical Sciences Division at JSC.
Davis is the principle investigator for multiple emergency medical development training initiatives and centers throughout the world and capacity development programs with the Department of Agriculture and Native American partners. He has worked to improve front-line health care delivery in Africa in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) and was awarded the BWH Hippocrates Society Humanitarian Award in 2011.
