Paula McNichols, who has been serving the Brookside Community Health Center with steadfast and tireless effort since 1972, was awarded the Outstanding Health Center Director Award from the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers on Friday, June 2. McNichols, who started her career at the BCHC as the Laboratory supervisor, became the center’s Operations Manager in 1985. She subsequently moved to the position of Assistant Director of Clinical Operations, and then the Assistant Director of Finance and Administration. She became the center’s Executive Director in 1990, where she has remained ever since. Known for being an extraordinarily hard worker, a talented speaker, and a patient advocate devoted to providing quality care with dignity, McNichols is highly respected by her staff. “Paula’s career exemplifies the best that the community health center movement has to offer,” wrote her BCHC peers in her nomination form. “She truly deserves recognition for serving Brookside and our community for the past 29 years.”
