BWH, McKesson Provider Technologies Win Excellence Award
For the last five years, the BWPO Department of Surgery has worked with McKesson Provider Technologies to navigate the complexities of revenue cycle operations and billing compliance. The relationship has enabled the Department of Surgery to improve operational efficiencies and achieve a cost savings in the complicated billing systems for government and private payors through reduced revenue cycle time and decreased bad debt.
The results produced from the partnership allowed the Department of Surgery to reinvest in patient care, and this past May netted both BWH and McKesson the 2007 “Best Healthcare Partnership” award in the Outsourcing Excellence Awards, an annual international competition sponsored by Forbes, Inc. and the Everest Consulting Group. BWH and McKesson were recognized for their unique partnership and collaboration to develop best practices, implement systems, and train and assist staff at both organizations to address unique business challenges.
“Together, we developed a plan to achieve improvements in operational efficiency, which allowed us to reinvest in quality patient-care initiatives,” says David Francis, BWPO director of Billing Operations and Compliance for Surgery.
The award will be presented to the BWPO Department of Surgery and McKesson in August.
