BWH Participating in Study of Work/Life Balance
Brigham and Women’s Hospital has been chosen to participate in a research study on how clinical nurses and other patient care workers balance work and life. Funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and conducted by the Harvard School of Public Health and BWH Occupational Health Service, this program is called Be Well, Work Well, and it will include a number of components over the next couple of years.
The overall vision of the study is to keep health care workers safe and healthy by promoting workplaces that protect, sustain and promote the health and wellbeing of their employees. The first component of the study is a survey about how patient care workers balance their work and home lives. The results of this survey will be used to inform practices and policies for patient care workers everywhere, provide information on how patient care workers do their jobs and explore how these factors and others affect their lives outside of work.
In early fall, randomly selected clinical staff will receive more information by e-mail or letter asking them to participate in the survey. If you are selected, please participate! Survey results will help researchers create models and interventions toward a better work/life balance for patient care workers and safer work environments.
