Vincent Vacca, RN, MSN, CCRN, clinical nurse educator, and David Correllus, RN, both of the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit, published "Alcohol Poisoning" in the Nursing 2013 Critical Care September issue. Vacca also published "Vesicant extravasation-Time Critical," in the same issue.
Kathleen O'Neill, RN, BSN, of Tower 6A, and Patricia Reid Ponte, RN, DNSc, FAAN, chief nursing officer and senior vice president of Palliative Care Services at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and executive director of Oncology Nursing and Clinical Services at BWH, published "Hiring into Advanced Practice Positions: The Nurse Practitioner Versus Physician Assistants Debate," in the June 2013 issue of the Journal of Nursing Administration.
Honors
Teresita Murphy, RN, BSN, of CWN-7, was among the Nurse of the Year Awards recipients, presented by the March of Dimes Massachusetts Chapter during a ceremony on Oct. 7. Murphy was recognized with the award in the Antepartum category for showcasing professional excellence and promoting the future of the nursing profession, while helping to advance the mission of the March of Dimes. In addition, four BWH nurses were honored as finalists: Carol Luppi, RN, BSN, ALM, nurse educator for technology; Susan Caffrey, RN, MSN, nurse director of the Center for Labor & Birth; Kerri Duggan, RN, BSN of the NICU; and Christine Harker, RN, MSN, NP-C, ambulatory nurse educator.
