In September, Frederick Goldstein, Esq., (left) and Patrick Grant, Jr., (right) Trustees of the Hahnemann Hospital, presented Ann C. Hurley, DNSc, RN, FAAN, executive director for The Center for Excellence in Nursing Practice, with a check for $20,100 on behalf of the Board of Trustees. The Hahnemann Hospital is a trust that formerly operated the Hahnemann Hospital in Brighton and now uses its assets to support various health care projects, with a special interest in patient care matters and nursing.
The Hahnemann Hospital philosophy is founded on homoeopathy, a system of healing discovered by the German doctor, Samuel Hahnemann. Through homeoeopathy, Hahnemann practiced a system of medicine that met with his own ideal of “...rapid, gentle and permanent restoration of the health.”
Funding from the Trustees of the Hahnemann Hospital will provide substantial outside support of the GRANT (Getting Research And Nurses Together) program. GRANT is a series of three educational programs designed to facilitate the development of basic research skills in nurses whose primary role is to provide direct patient care. The series is scheduled to begin on October 29.
