Reid Ponte Lauded for Leadership
Patricia Reid Ponte, RN, DNSc, has earned the Mary B. Conceison Award for Excellence
in Nursing Leadership. The award, given by the Massachusetts Organization of Nursing
Executives, is regarded as the most prestigious nursing leadership award in Massachusetts.
Reid Ponte is senior vice president for Patient Care Services and chief of nursing
at DFCI, as well as director of Oncology Nursing and Clinical Services at BWH.
The honor also recognizes Reid Ponte’s leadership in health care improvement
and patient safety, which is evident through her work establishing the Phyllis
F. Cantor Center for Research in Nursing and Patient Care Services (NPCS) at DFCI
in 2001.
Reid Ponte has also been named a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing
(AAN). She was one of 62 nurses nationwide who received the award as a “pathfinder
in the nursing discipline.” She joins approximately 1,700 leaders in nursing
education, management, practice and research who comprise the AAN, established
in 1973 to provide nursing leadership in shaping health care policy and practice.
