Honoring the Past, Forging the Future

Faulkner Hospital will be renamed “Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital,” effective Oct. 1, as a way to reflect the ever-increasing integration of the two hospitals.

“The new name is part of our efforts to offer a seamless campus to our patients, to redesign care for maximum efficiency and the best possible outcomes, and to create value for patients and payers through our patient affordability efforts,” said BW/F President Betsy Nabel, MD, in an e-mail announcing the change.

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital signage and advertising will be implemented beginning Oct. 1. The hospital, which has met the needs of the surrounding community for more than 100 years, will continue to be defined by the caring staff members who demonstrate unwavering skill and compassion in the work they do.

Faulkner’s tradition of quality care will carry on, with its state-of-the-art operating rooms, world renowned physicians, truly exceptional staff and a wide variety of services that has expanded during the past 15 years as part of the Brigham and Women’s family.

The new name was decided through a process involving interviews with physicians, patients, trustees and staff. External referring physicians and prospective patients were also asked how Faulkner Hospital could be best represented as part of the Brigham and Women’s family.

BWH is proud to continue its close collaboration with its colleagues at Faulkner as the hospitals work to achieve a shared mission during this next chapter of their history.
