Shalender Bhasin, MD |
Shalender Bhasin, MD, has been
named director of the newly-created Men's Health: Aging and Metabolism Unit,
Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Hypertension, in the Department of
Medicine. He will move full-time to BWH on Jan. 28.
Bhasin is
an internationally recognized reproductive endocrinologist with expertise in
anabolic therapies, androgen biology, and clinical trials of testosterone. He
is currently professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine,
section chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Nutrition. He is also chair of the American Board
of Internal Medicine: Endocrinology and Metabolism Subspecialty Board.
Bhasin received his medical degree from the All India Institute
of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India, and completed his residency at
Northwestern University Medical School. He completed his fellowship in
endocrinology and metabolism at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Prior to his
appointment at BUSM, Bhasin was Professor-in-Residence at UCLA School of Medicine
and chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Molecular Medicine
at the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, where he held many
leadership positions, including associate program director of the Clinical
Research Center and associate chair for Academic Affairs in the Department of
Medicine.
Human Resources
Human
Resources appointed two new directors last month.

Karen Aliabadi |
Karen
Aliabadi was
named senior director of Human Resources, responsible for the development and
implementation of human resource programs and strategies, as well as managing
HR's business consultants, recruiting group and systems administration.
Aliabadi
previously served as vice president for Corporate Human Resources and
Administration at Fisher Communications, a publicly traded broadcast media
company in Seattle. She was also the vice president and chief administrative
officer at Federal Home Loan Bank in Seattle. Aliabadi earned her bachelor's
degree from Southern Illinois University and her MBA at Green Mountain College
in Vermont.

Ellen Gilmore |
Ellen
Gilmore was appointed director of Organizational Effectiveness. In this
role, Gilmore oversees the Organizational Development and Learning team and
Workforce Development, and is responsible for developing practices that work
toward BWH's strategic commitment to an engaged workforce.
Prior to joining BWH, Gilmore worked as the director of Engagement
of Human Resources at Harvard University's Faculty of Arts & Sciences. She
received her bachelor's degree in Math and Computer Science from Regis College
and her master's in Training and Development from Lesley University.
