Dear Colleagues:
As Dr. Whittemore indicated, we are very proud of the operational success of the hospital during the first half of the year. At the PO, we have mirrored this success with an outstanding effort on behalf of all of our physicians and our management team. BWPO President Troy Brennan has reported that clinical receipts hit a record level of more than $13.7 million in April and that the number of days in accounts receivable (AR) has dropped significantly across all departments for the fourth straight month. AR is now at 96 days - down from 125 at the beginning of the fiscal year.
This success is impressive even as we see evidence of challenges all around us in health care from payor contracts and the downward pressure from federal and state reimbursement plans. It clearly demonstrates the value of our PO structure. New departments such as Neurology, Radiation Oncology and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit have joined the established BWPO departments in this success and have had an impressive start in their program.
The success of the BWPO and the BWH as a whole, are due to your hard work and commitment to the patients we serve. Your skills and talent are the heart of our success.

Lawrence H. Cohn, MD
Chairman, BWPO
