From Bench to Bedside and Back Again

As a way to promote two-way communication between its clinical and research fellows, the Department of Pathology in June hosted a postdoctoral networking event in Carrie Hall. At the interactive meeting, scientists and clinicians shared their perspectives, information and humor as the two dynamics came together. Chairman Michael Gimbrone, MD, participated in the department's first event of this nature.

“Aside from the circumstantial interaction and communication, the research and clinical perspectives of fellows rarely intertwine. The event brought both sides together to mirror the expanding efforts of academic institutions nationwide to focus more intently on the overall career development of postdoctoral fellows,” said Gimbrone, above at right, with Monideppa Roy, PhD, a research Pathology fellow.
