Welcome to the first edition of BWH Medical Staff News — a newly redesigned publication for all members of the BWH medical and research staff. The newsletter is designed to provide you with updated information on hospital events, initiatives and issues that are essential to our roles as care providers, researchers, teachers and members of the community.

BWH Medical Staff News brings together key elements from Professional Staff Update and the BWPO Advocate within the pages of the same newsletter. As such, I am pleased to welcome the monthly commentary of my colleague, Lawrence H. Cohn, MD, chairman, Brigham and Women’s Physicians Organization.

It is my great hope that we can provide every member of the BWH professional community with a comprehensive monthly review of matters of importance to physicians and researchers, surgeons and residents.
