Jerry Soucy

Jerry Soucy, BSN, RN, CSS, staff nurse in the Neuroscience ICU on Tower 9CD, qualified to teach Palliative and End of Life Care after completing the End of Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC), course for trainers, hosted by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and the City of Hope Cancer Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Sherilyn Levy, MSN, RN, was elected as vice chair for the American Society for Reproductive Medicine Nurse’s Professional Group during its annual meeting in San Francisco. During that meeting, Levy also facilitated a round table discussion entitled “New Nurse Orientation in an Infertility Practice.”
Martha A. Doherty, BSN, RN, a clinical staff nurse in the Center for Labor and Birth and a central educator in the Center for Nursing Excellence, was inducted into Eta Iota Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International at the University of New Hampshire, where she is pursuing her master’s degree.
Pearl Cunningham, MBA, BSN, RN, CNOR, Operating Room nurse manager attended the National Board Meeting of the Association of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses in Atlanta.

Posters, Presentations and Publications
Leslie Sabatino, BSN, RN, and Suellen Breakey, PhD, RN, were part of a research team that presented an abstract poster: “Team Heart: A Collaborative Effort to Create a Sustainable Cardiac Surgery Program in Rwanda,” during the Disparities in Surgical Care Conference held in Boston.
Martha Jurchak, PhD, RN, and Mary Pennington, MSN, RN, gave a talk “Strengthening Moral Agency in New Critical Care Nurses,” during the 17th annual Deb Wing Memorial Lecture at MGH in November.
Jeanne Reilly, RN, clinical staff nurse, and Cindy Loring, RNC, MS, nurse educator, both from CWN 10, were selected to present their poster abstract: “Nurse Participation in Clinical Research: How to Make it Happen,” during the 2009 Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nursing Annual Convention to be held in San Diego in June.

Patricia Ide, MSN, RN, CNOR, Operating Room staff nurse, presented “Perioperative Nursing Care of the Bariatric Surgical Patient,” during the Irish Anesthetic and Recovery Nurses Association annual conference held in Limerick, Ireland, in October.

This fall, Carol Daddio Pierce, MS, RN, CCRN, ACNP, presented two clinical programs entitled “Shock Syndromes and the Sepsis Continuum,” at Simmons College School of Nursing, and “The Ins and Outs of Mechanical Ventilation,” at the Massachusetts Nurses Association in Canton.
