Staff from the Trauma, Burn and Surgical Critical Care ICU and intermediate care unit on Tower 8 recently sent their support-and a whole lot of seafood-to colleagues at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, Texas, which received about 60 victims from a deadly fire at a nearby fertilizer plant in April.
"In keeping with those random acts of kindness that followed the Boston Marathon bombings, we wanted to do something for Hillcrest," said nurse educator Sharon Swan, RN.
Hillcrest received a full clambake of 30 lobsters, 10 pounds of steamers and two gallons of chowder. Tower 8 staff chipped in for the clambake, with Legal Sea Foods providing a discount to make the shipment possible. Hillcrest shared its gratitude to BWH and sent photos of staff enjoying the seafood.
