Lee Joins BWH as Senior Nurse Scientist

Susan M. Lee, PhD, RN, an internationally recognized author and researcher, joined the Center for Nursing Excellence as a senior nurse scientist earlier this year.
Lee most recently served as a Connell Nursing Research Scholar in The Yvonne L. Munn Center for Nursing Research at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her program of research focuses on geropalliative care, an emerging specialty and approach to the care of frail, older adults in the last few years of life.
Lee developed and tested AgeWISE, a nurse residency program in geropalliative care, in 13 Magnet-designated hospitals in the U.S. AgeWISE brings the latest evidence in geriatrics and palliative care to the nurse at the bedside and is rooted in the Caritas Processes developed by Nursing Theorist Jean Watson, PhD, RN, FAAN.
Lee received her bachelor's degree from Worcester State College, master's degree at the University of Massachusetts Boston, and her doctorate in Nursing from William F. Connell School of Nursing at Boston College. She is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Eastern Nursing Research Society, Council on Advancement of Nursing Science, Hospice and Palliative Nursing Association and the National Gerontological Nursing Association.
