As you well know by now, Brigham and Women’s Hospital again has been named among the top 10 hospitals in the country, as surveyed by U.S. News and World Report.
I would like to congratulate you, the nurses, for this accomplishment. Yours is the face that Brigham and Women’s patients come to rely on while they undergo surgery, observation and testing. And, it is during these times that they are most vulnerable. Thank you for carrying out care plans, making the snap decisions necessary to ensure a patient’s health and well-being, explaining decisions and processes to the patients, and offering the reassuring smile and touch that puts a patient more at ease.
I am in awe of your skills as professionals, researchers and caregivers. Thank you for your contributions in making BWH the national leader in health care that it is today.
Also in this issue, you will find survey data findings from our new hire surveys. These findings are important as we strive to recruite and retain the best and brightest new generation of nurses. Additionally, new nurses are invited to a luncheon in their honor on August 15. I look forward to seeing you there.
Sincerely,

Nancy Kruger, DNSc, RN
