As health care continues to be buffeted by waves of change, we can report that our efforts to develop an integrated, strategic approach to our mission of providing exceptional care has met with ongoing success. The ability of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and its sister hospitals within Partners HealthCare to weather the challenges of the new health care environment has been clearly demonstrated. Now, as we move forward, facing the new challenges of the coming year, we are prepared to better shape and define the scope of our vision.
Under the leadership of Gary L. Gottlieb, MD, MBA, president of Brigham and Women’s/Faulkner Hospitals, we have generated a unified BW/F Vision Statement that will guide BWH, Faulkner Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Physician Organization and our important partners, such as the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Clearly articulated principles around quality patient care, research and medical education will allow us to leverage our existing strengths with renewed enthusiasm. See the article on page 3, which provides more information on the redefined vision.
Nursing will always be at the center of the patient care continuum and as a result, I encourage each of you to explore and learn more about the new BW/F Vision Statement. There will be a special Town Meeting on February 25 in the Bornstein Amphitheater at 11 a.m. to discuss this important initiative.
As a mechanism for us to further build upon our longstanding reputation for exceptional quality, we firmly believe that the new BW/F Vision Statement will provide us with a critical foundation for the future.
Sincerely,

Nancy Kruger, DNSc, RN
Vice President, Patient Care Services
