ADVANCE for Nurses Recognizes Neurosciences ICU

BWH’s Neurosciences ICU nursing staff and PCAs placed as a runner up in ADVANCE for Nurses magazine’s search for the 2006 Best Nursing Team award. The magazine recognized five teams from New England as part of National Nurses Week.
Dozens of nursing teams from across New England submitted entry forms and essays. A panel of three judges evaluated the entries by awarding scores in the categories of: initiative, adaptability, teamwork, recruitment/retention and knowledge. The BWH Neurosciences ICU staff of 75 nurses (and growing) and skilled PCAs stood out among the nominated teams because of the unit’s focus on educational initiatives and success in implementing them. Also, the unit was cited for positive work environment, efforts to ensure patient and family satisfaction, dedication to positive outcomes, community outreach efforts and staff-driven innovative programs.
“Nurses work hard for their patients, their facility and their coworkers. By celebrating the nursing teams who read our magazines, we aim to do our part in honoring the everyday heroes who keep our nation healthy and safe,” said Lyn A.E. McCafferty, editor of ADVANCE for Nurses. “We stand behind our mission to recognize their diligence and commitment to providing the best possible care.”
