Huntington Avenue Construction Huntington Avenue Beautification: Seek Alternate Routes Phase I of the Huntington Avenue Beautification Project’s construction process will begin in late March and will continue through August. All parking will be removed from Huntington Avenue, from Opera Place to Brigham Circle, during this time. The meters will be relocated to Parker Street (between Ruggles and Huntington) and Evans Way. ESL Classes For Health Care Professionals (Assessment) BWH is offering English skills improvement classes for employees who speak English as a second language. They will be held once a week for nine weeks beginning on April 16 (dates, times and location TBA). An assessment will be held on April 9, 2-4:30 p.m., in Environmental Services (located off of the Ground Pike, near Mail Services) to ensure that employees are placed in classes of an appropriate level. Talking To Teens About Drugs 12-1 p.m. Thorn Conference Rm. Janice Kauffman, RN, MPH, CAS, director, Addiction Psychiatry Service, Psychiatry Department will facilitate this informative lunchtime seminar on approaching children about the sensitive topic of drug and alcohol use. This seminar will educate concerned adults on the types of drugs being used today and the best strategies for reaching children on this important issue. Participants should feel free to bring lunch. Lunch with Matt Van Vranken 12-1 p.m. These meetings provide staff the opportunity to meet with the hospital’s chief operating officer for an open discussion on topics pertaining to BWH or health care in general. 5 Digit Dialing System BWH’s internal telephone dialing system will be converted from the current four-digit system to a five-digit system. As of April 27, extension on BWH’s main campus will be converted from four to five digits. The same change will apply to 850 Boylston and DFCI at later dates. To sign up for a training session, e-mail jbennett2@partners.org or call 724-1691. *The auto page numbers for BWH and DFCI are changing in preparation for the conversion described above. The BWH Paging System extensions of 333, 6987, 7777 and 7778 will convert to ext. 5700. The DFCI paging system number of 334 will convert to 617-632-2337. Please make note of these new numbers, as they are effective on April 2.
