BWH clinicians were highlighted in this month’s issue of Boston Magazine as “Best Up-and-Coming Specialists in Massachusetts.” BWH’s Sonia Friedman, MD; Rachel Ashby, MD; and Christian Sampson, MD, were among 21 physicians in Boston to be considered the most promising new medical talent in the community by the magazine.
Sonia Friedman, MD, Gastroenterology, is an associate physician at BWH and instructor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. Friedman specializes in inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.
Rachel K. Ashby, MD, Obstetrics and Gynecology, is a clinical instructor in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at BWH/Harvard Medical School. Ashby specializes in infertility and in vitro fertilization, complex reproductive surgery, and male-factor infertility.
Christian Sampson, MD, Plastic Surgery, is on staff at BWH and is a surgery instructor at Harvard Medical School.
Sampson specializes in hand surgery and vascular surgery in the hand and fingers, and reconstructive trauma surgery.
Friedman, who is one of the few junior attendings that specializes in inflammatory bowel disease, is featured on the magazine cover.
Like Friedman, Ashby and Sampson attribute their success and recognition to the support of their fellow physicians in the community.
“I work with an incredible group of physicians that set a very high standard that I strive to achieve. I love what I do and cannot imagine doing anything else,” said Ashby.
