Thanks to all who donated blood during an emergency appeal January 8-16, the BWH Blood Donor Center was able to replenish its critically-low blood supply. Several contributing factors such as cold-and-flu season and the winter weather caused the blood supply at BWH and other area hospitals to diminish. During the emergency appeal, 37 percent of donors were BWH employees. Although the blood supply is currently at a safe level, Linda Perry, lead recruiter in the Blood Donor Center, said there is still a need for employees to donate on a regular basis.
