Partners Chairman of the Board, Jack Connors, Jr., this week joins Harvard Medical School (HMS) as Chair of the Board of Fellows. A long-time supporter of BWH, Connors served as Chairman of the Board at BWH from 1992 to 1996. He is also a founding partner and Chairman of Boston-based advertising agency Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos.
Eileen and Jack Connors are leading supporters of BWH, having pledged $5 million to the hospital’s recently concluded “Great Medicine in the Making” capital campaign. This is their second $5 million gift in support of Women’s Health. The Mary Horrigan Connors Center for Women’s Health bears Jack Connors’ mother’s name.
Connors is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dana-Farber/Partners CancerCare; Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Boston College and a Trustee of Brandeis University.
“Harvard Medical School is extremely fortunate to be gaining Jack’s counsel and leadership,” says Joseph B. Martin, MD, PhD, HMS dean of the Faculty of Medicine. “His experience, particularly his service with hospitals and heath care organizations, will help advance the teaching, research, and patient care mission of the school.”
“The great hospitals in Boston are not great because of architecture,” Connors says, “They are great because of the doctors, nurses and administrators who donate their professional lives to patient care. Most of those doctors were trained at Harvard Medical School and serving both communities is an honor, privilege and true joy.”
