Effective June 6, clinicians can edit inpatient notes using a version of Microsoft Notepad modified to work in BICS, thanks to BWH Health Information Management and Partners IS. The flow of the dictated notes remains unchanged. An automatic e-mail reminder will alert the attending physician when op notes and/or discharge summaries are in BICS queues waiting to be signed.
Training is open to all clinicians and support staff on a drop-in basis on Tuesday, June 6, from 7 to 8 a.m. in the Duncan Reid Conference Room, and from noon to 1 p.m. in the Medical Staff Conference Room; and Thursday, June 8, from 7 to 8 a.m. and noon to 1 p.m. in the Duncan Reid Conference Room. Training takes about 15 minutes. Contact George Wilson, RHIA, manager of Health Information Services, at ext. 2-5599 or gwilson@partners.org with questions or for more information. Once the editing system goes live, contact Transcription Support at ext. 2-7474 for editing assistance.
