Health Imaging & IT magazine named Ramin Khorasani, MD, MPH, vice chair of Radiology and director of Medical Imaging Information Technology, among its top 25 innovators.
Khorasani joined hospital executives, physicians, department chiefs, researchers and others from health care practices, hospitals and health systems across the country on the prestigious list. “These trailblazers are focused on improving the quality and safety of healthcare by speeding workflow and clinical decision making and bettering outcomes,” according to the article, which appears in the magazine’s June 1 issue.
Health Imaging & IT recognized Khorasani for his efforts to improve patient safety, quality and efficiency of care by using information technology. Khorasani educates administrators, physicians and others from around the country on reducing medical errors by using information technology. At BWH, Khorasani is working to reduce inappropriate use of imaging and is project director for an initiative to enable researchers to use information systems and analyze multidisciplinary data to facilitate the practice of evidence-based medicine and measure its impact on quality of care.
Khorasani credits his team and BWH leadership, including President Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA, and Steven Seltzer, MD, chair of the Department of Radiology. “The real credit should to Drs. Gottlieb and Seltzer for having the vision of a patient-centered, evidence-based practice, and the entire IT team, including Medical Imaging IT and BWH IS, for continued and successful implementation of the necessary solutions for our patients,” he said.
