For the second straight year, Partners HealthCare was named the number one workplace for IT professionals in New England by Computerworld magazine. Partners ranks 31 on the magazine’s list of the 100 top IT U.S. employers.
Sue Schade, BWH chief information officer, said “This recognition reinforces that being part of the Information Systems team at Partners allows IT staff to grow in their profession while working with systems and new technologies that are critical to our clinicians.”
The weekly publication reviewed public and private companies with at least500 employees and at least 75 IT employees. Nominated companies filled out a100-question survey about average salary and bonus increases, percentage of IT employees receiving promotions, IT staff turnover rates, training and development opportunities and the percentage of women and minorities in IT staff and management positions. In addition, more than 20,000 employees from the100 companies selected responded to employee surveys, which included questions about satisfaction with training and development programs, base salary, bonuses, health benefits and work/life balance.
IS professionals at BWH in the past year have worked on several major projects, including the Data Center move, Centricity roll out for PAC images and eMAR implementation and enhancement.
“Once eMAR was implemented on inpatient pods, the focus shifted from implementation to enhancement,” Anne Bane, RN, nursing coordinator, said.” Clinicians have an opportunity to give us feedback on the application, and IS has focused in recent months on real time enhancements that provide many safety features for medication administration and also enhance the clinician workflow and facilitate care at the bedside for all disciplines.” Parallel work continues with implementation of the eMAR on Hematology/Oncology units.
